Fashion Spotlight: Florence Welch

Fashion Spotlight: Florence Welch

This week we put the spotlight on Florence Welch.

Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine is a modern style maven in her own right. Her fiery red hair can’t be missed, and she has her signature bohemian, Janis Joplin reminiscent style down pat. How can you not be inspired by her? She marches to the beat of her own drum, and her sense of style is just as unique as her hauntingly beautiful voice.

This UK native definitely has a hint of that London rebel style in her outfits. I think that aside from being a singer/songwriter, Florence Welch can add style icon to her list of occupations. I love how she takes fashion risks and pulls it off so effortlessly. Her outfits are daring in their own way and she’s definitely blazing a trail for bohemian fashion lovers. Here are my personal picks of her top 5 best looks:

Rule Breaker

Whoever said never wear white socks with black shoes clearly has never met Florence Welch. She puts her own offbeat twist to her very feminine frock by finishing it off with some schoolgirl inspired footwear. Black heeled oxfords with white socks seem unconventional, but Florence pulls it off with aplomb.

Met Gala Red Carpet

Ever the fashion trailblazer, Florence looked positively ethereal and avant-garde on the Met Gala red carpet. The natural makeup look and the charming braided updo all served to contrast the risky yet completely fabulous embellished multi-tiered ruffled gown.

Fringe Benefits

Coachella may be over, but Florence Welch sure serves up Coachella-inspired bohemian style all year round. Consider this look, your inspiration for next year’s slew of summer music festivals. From the 70s oval round sunnies to her full bangs, Florence is giving us true Woodstock chic. The sweeping fringe and the embroidery plus the beat up leather boots and ripped denim combo are pure perfection.

Fur and Flower Power

Looking to upgrade a floral maxi dress? Take a cue from Florence Welch and top it off with a statement-making piece like a colored fur coat. Fur in wacky and vibrant colors were prominent on the Fall 2015 runways, and it’s a great way to keep color in your wardrobe come the colder months. I love how Florence matched the color of her fur topper to the print of her dress. Notice the minimal makeup? That’s intentional. The outfit is amazing, so there’s no need to take away from that.

70s Nostalgia

Paisley print plus a fringe snakeskin bag equals daytime glamour with heavy 70s inspiration. I love how she styled her paisley print dress with a contrasting color and complementary print. It would’ve been so easy to pair this with a brown leather saddle bag, but this red snakeskin bag with fringe takes this ensemble over-the-top well into iconic territory. Check out her low-heeled buckled suede Gucci heels too. So chic.

Did Florence Welch awaken you inner boho babe? I know I definitely got lots of bohemian style inspiration from her. The 70s is such a strong trend this season, and she definitely knows how to pull it off splendidly.
