Ferguson Police Release Report, Shooting Officer’s Name

Ferguson Police Chief Tom Jackson

This morning at a press conference, Ferguson Police Chief Tom Jackson confirmed the name of the officer who shot and killed Michael Brown was Darren Wilson, a six-year veteran.

Chief Jackson also said there had been a robbery in the area moments before officer Wilson encountered Brown while walking on the street.

According to the police report, the encounter between Wilson and Brown started at 12:01pm and the unarmed teenager was killed by 12:04pm.

Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon said officer Wilson will be protected against retaliation.  He is currently on administrative leave.
