09 Dec Jon Stewart Returns…But It’s Was No Joke
…in an attempt to shame Congress into funding medical care for the first responders at ground zero following the attacks on 9/11.
Jon Stewart returns to The Daily Show on business, not pleasure.
Jon says that the first responders have traveled to Washington, DC countless times to beg for continued funding of the Zadroga Act (the bill was names for James Zadroga who was the first NYPD officer whose death was attributed to exposure at ground zero). But their attempts have all failed.
If you’re curious to know which representatives failed to support the bill, you can check out this list we found on Tumblr.
Needless to say, anyone who stepped up (whether it’s their “job” or not) to help America literally pick up the pieces following the tragic events in New York that day should be adequately taken care of medically. End of story.
Good on Jon Stewart for shining a spotlight on this issue.
