02 Jul Media Bias: Black Church Burnings Receive Little Attention
In the two weeks following the shooting death of nine people at Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, SC, it’s reported that seven Black churches have gone up in flames.
As per the usual, the attack on a Black institution is not being appropriately covered in the media.
Even after the attack in Greeleyville, SC, the media continued to remain quiet, ignoring the fact that six Black churches have gone up in flames since the domestic terrorist attack in Charleston, SC.
Below are side by side comparison’s done by Natasha Noman at News.Mic of coverage the day after Baltimore to July 1, the day after the fire Mt. Zion AME Church in Greeleyville, SC. The events in Baltimore were of a larger scale, but in the light of increasing tensions, the news of Black churches burning should be more notable.
