01 Sep Style Profile: Tinashe
With her chart-topping and critically praised debut ‘Aquarius,’ Tinashe burst onto the scene and made a huge impact in music and style.
I mean, her single “2 On” was on the Billboard Top 100 for a while. Not to mention, we’ve been dancing to her songs nonstop now. More than her obvious musical talent and achievement, Tinashe’s trailblazing style has put her in the spotlight too.
The note-perfect modern combination of sexy and tomboy chic, we love how Tinashe’s outfits reflect her R&B roots and musical influence as well as toughness. Here are some of our favorite looks and styles from Tinashe:
Tinashe isn’t a cookie-cutter girl. So it comes as no surprise when she opts for edgy fashion brands such as Hood By Air.
Gotta love the side slits and back zip detail of this Hood By Air tee, it gives your regular tee a whole lot of street cred.
Tinashe’s style is at the intersection of girly and sporty. She always dons amazing kicks, but still keeps her sweats chic with a high and sleek ponytail.
We can’t help but notice how much Tinashe loves black. (We do too.)
Black is such an effortless color to wear and gives instant sophistication. However, always wearing black can get stale, so you have to figure how to mix things up and keep black exciting. Tinashe definitely has the style dilemma unlocked in this street style snap of her wearing a classic LBD with an oh-so-dramatic and oh-so-bold yellow collar. The texture and hue is very fashion forward.
Keeping it simple yet sassy and sexy in this nude leather number, Tinashe knows that with a dress like this you don’t need a whole lot of accessories.
Even if you’re as toned and tan as Tinashe, you have to tone down your overt sex appeal for a more chic and elegant look. We love how she kept it street with multiple rings on her fingers, a cropped top and zipper details on her pants, but we also love how she finishes this look off with a boxy, over-sized bomber jacket. It’s all about balance.
Wearing Public School on the CFDA red carpet, Tinashe schools us on layering textures and prints.
The fringed knit + leather combat boots + modern geometric lines = an unexpected yet completely memorable red carpet appearance.
Another day, another wow-inducing look from Tinashe. This is her unique and youthful take on evening tuxedo dressing and we love it. The silver lariat is an especially inspired touch.
