The Game Drops $500K in Support of Flint Water Crisis

The Game said “talk is cheap”, so he put his money where his mouth is… and he showed the transaction confirmation as proof.

#WATERFORFLINT PROOF !!! So, I’m on tour & not in the US as I’d like to be to help with this water crisis in Flint, Michigan 1st hand…. #1 because my younger sister & her children live there & 2nd because I care. Most celebs on here faking using the word “Pledge” in their so called donations are not fooling anyone ! The truth is the population in Flint, Michigan is about 105,000 people & it takes at least 9 bottles per person a day just to use to bathe, brush their teeth, drink & cook with… So on behalf my charity @TheRobinHoodProject I am donating $1,000,000 in water bottles..$500,000 coming out of my own pocket (which is everything I’ve made on tour up to this point) & the other 1/2 being met by @AvitaWater & the 1st drop is being made TODAY 1pm eastern time at “Food Bank East Michigan” 2300 Lapeer Road flint Michigan 48503 & the 1st drop will be 1400 cases of water equaling about 33,000 bottles today & everyday that follows until 1,000,000 bottles of water are dropped !!!! To those who think it’s easy getting this water to Flint, it’s not so the people who are PLEDGING they are, show us.. We want proof !!! Stop using others tragedies for your own celebrity gain… You’re not fooling ANYONE ! I seen @Madonna & @JimmyFallon’s $10,000 donations… that’s cute, but not nearly enough…. So I challenge both & anyone else in the world to match me & DONATE $1,000,000 in bottled water to Flint, Michigan & we want proof, shipping order receipts, bank wire receipts, pictures etc……….. No more pretending to give a fuck….. I donate money all the time & it comes out of my pocket & never once have I written anything off on my taxes because that’s not why I do it !!!!!!!! So, if any other celebrity wants to MATCH MY MILLION here’s the site where you can donate or pick your own.. JUST MAKE SURE THE WATER ACTUALLY GETS TO THE PEOPLE WHO NEED IT !! & I don’t wanna see anyone else using the word “PLEDGE” in their donation or press release because we know that that means. “YOU JUST TALKING & TRYING TO MAKE YOURSELF LOOK LIKE A HUMANITARIAN” !!! #WaterForFlint #TheRobinHoodProject #AvitaH20Corp #SelfmadeFoundation #HUMANPOWERBALL

Making the impact of his donation even bigger, The Game partnered with Avita, an artesian alkaline water company, to match his donation. That means $1,000,000 in water will be given to Flint, Mi.

The city of Flint, MI as been in turmoil after it was revealed that the water supply contained dangerously high levels of lead, which some experts estimate may have caused permanent brain damage to 8,000 to 9,000 children. Keep in mind that’s just kids, who knows what affects it’s had on adults.

“It’s obviously a very big deal and a tragedy in Flint, and I saw people donating small amounts, and I just thought I’d go above and beyond that.

So I donated the funds from the first 11 shows of my European tour.

Avita matched it and they’ll be one million bottles of water given out—33,000 bottles of water at a time because of trucking and shipping it in and out. It’s not easy shipping it out because of the snowstorms, and trucks being backed up. But we’ll get it there, however long it takes.”

While many celebrities, like Cher, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs and Mark Wahlberg, have donated money and water, The Game has a more personal connection to the city, which a huge reason why he dug so deep in his pockets:

“My sister lives in Flint with my nieces and nephews and her husband, and so it directly affected me… I’ve got friends who are still stuck there, too.”

In an interview, he also talked about why he called out other celebs:

“I called ‘em out and then I didn’t call ‘em out. The only reason I mentioned Madonna and Fallon is I follow Madonna on Twitter and saw it on my feed, and I saw, ‘Ten-thousand dollars.’ Madonna? Come on, man. She’s paid it forward her whole life though, adopting kids and donating money. But specifically to the water crisis in Flint, we can do better than $10,000. It takes about nine bottles per person per day to bathe and drink, so $10,000 contributes, but they could’ve done a lot more.”

We went on to say that: “What Meek did was very generous, and that’s great. But what I want celebrities to do is to stop saying, ‘I pledge water.’ There are people who get up every morning and say they pledge allegiance to the flag, but don’t really honor it. Talk is cheap. So I posted a picture of my wire transfer and I’ll post pictures of the water going into Flint every day until it’s done—not to brag, but to speak to the people who actually want to fix the problem.”
